There are no short cuts or get rich quick schemes out there to making money, unless you have plenty of money to spend to pay someone to do all the hard work for you. Starting out will involve a fair bit of effort, a lot of self-education, and trial and error on your behalf.
Doing a search through hub pages, help section and forums is an endless supply of useful information you can access, and when you have mastered one area and feel ready to move on to the next step, usually there is someone willing to share their knowledge.
Links are important so I am discovering. They can help gain more traffic, and more traffic is something we all want. Since taking the time to explore more about back links, getting links to open in another window rather than leaving your hub, I have noticed an increase in my traffic, and earnings.
There is still a lot I need to learn, I am finding if I concentrate on one thing at a time, and practice it, even if I don't get it right the first time, eventually the penny drops and what once seemed double dutch, makes a lot more sense.
To give you an example, just by using links to other pages, grouping my hubs together, including a tracker, and having links open in another page, my October google earnings are $1.25 and my traffic has increased. Not a fortune I know, and a long way off quitting my day job, but definitely an increase from the 1 or 2 cents or 0 it was showing.
My reason for joining Hubpages was not to make money, it has been a creative outlet more than a money making venue, and a wealth of information on topics that interest me - and great fun. Being extremely busy (like most of us) managing work and family life, there's been many long breaks. Part of the pleasure for me, is learning new skills.
Monetizing my blog (or attempting too) is just a natural progression of this, an added interest that has come later, not been my whole focus. It's also a good excuse to write another hub!
Hubpages is a great place to start your writing career so why not sign up and join the - hubpages crew. It's a great place to hone your skills and express yourself.
